Artist's Description
Bright and Early sign on a red brick wall in Hico, Texas.
What was advertising like before the electronic age? Back in the days, ads were as big as a barn, literally.
One of the ways of advertising used in town was to paint large advertising signs on the side of buildings. One of the oldest of these signs can be seen in Hico, TX - a large sign advertising Bright and Early Coffee and Tea. Bright and Early are in large blue letters on a white background while Coffee and Tea are at the bottom in white letters on a black background with a house and some trees just above.
Today, finding a Bright & Early sign is as hard to find as a Model-T Ford. Both have vanished from the American landscape.

About Elena Nosyreva
I was born and raised in Russia. I got my PhD degree in biology in St Petersburg State University (Russia) and continued my research work in the Russian Academy of Sciences. In 1999, I moved to the United States to pursue my neuroscience research at the UT Southwestern Medical Center located in Dallas, TX. Being a scientist has been very rewarding in many aspects including creativity. However, I felt a compelling need to further express myself by taking an artistic journey. My artistic experimentation has evolved into a tremendously exciting form - mixed media collage, fine art photography, and digital art. I like experimenting with my photographs. I combine multiple images, textures, to crystallize an image that says something new...
